Retreat Ledger Verified
An editorial certification for retreats that meet our published standards for safety, transparency, and professional conduct.
Certification is earned, never purchased.
A badge that means what it says
Anyone can put the word verified on a website. Ours is different in one way that matters: it is an editorial decision made against published requirements, with documentation reviewed by our team. Retreats apply, submit evidence, and either meet the standard or do not. There is no fee that changes the outcome, and no plan that includes it.
When you see the Verified badge on a Retreat Ledger™ profile, it means the retreat has shown us the paperwork most guests never think to ask for until something goes wrong.
Seven standards, no exceptions
- 01
Current liability insurance
Proof of active, program-appropriate coverage, reviewed on issue and rechecked at renewal.
- 02
Documented safety standards
Written protocols for the activities offered, staff trained against them, and evidence they are followed in practice.
- 03
Emergency plans
A written emergency and evacuation plan, first-aid capability on site, and a clear medical escalation path for the location.
- 04
Transparent pricing
Full pricing published before booking, with every mandatory cost disclosed. No fees discovered at arrival.
- 05
Published cancellation policy
A cancellation and refund policy that is easy to find, written in plain language, and honored as written.
- 06
Professional conduct
A code of conduct for facilitators and staff, clear guest boundaries, and a stated process for handling complaints.
- 07
Accessibility information
Honest, specific disclosure of physical access, fitness requirements, and dietary accommodation, published before booking.
And what it does not
Verified means a retreat has met the seven standards above, with evidence, at the time of certification. It is a statement about how a retreat is run: insured, prepared, honest about money, and professional with guests.
It is not a guarantee that you will love the experience, and it is not a score. Guest reviews do that work. A Verified retreat with middling reviews is telling you something, and so is an unverified retreat that guests adore. The ledger shows you both signals and lets you weigh them.
Certification is earned, never purchased. Verification is not part of any paid plan, and featured placement neither requires it nor speeds it up.
For retreat owners
Certification is complimentary. If your retreat meets the standards, write to us and our team will send the documentation checklist. Review typically takes two to three weeks.
