What travellers say on Google
These are reviews published on Google, not on Retreat Ledger. We show them because a listing with no first-hand accounts yet still deserves some evidence, but they are not moderated by us and they never affect the Retreat Ledger Score. Google returns at most five, chosen by them, so treat this as a sample rather than the full picture.
The trip was enjoyable in that it was in Sikkim - a place which is very different from other treks we had done in the Himalayas. The experience as a whole was great from the perspective of hotels, logistics like travel by flight and taxi, food variety and quality on the trek and support crew. The information provided on itinerary, travel gear, visas etc was very detailed and helped greatly in our preparation. The forest and flowering rhododendrons were spectacular to see at the higher altitudes. The weather was a bit disappointing as it rained much more than we had anticipated with limited sunshine. This made the camping experience more uncomfortable due to the wet campsites even though the crew kept our spirits up with hot masala tea. It also made the trekking more challenging rather than moderate as we were expecting. We were pleased to reach 4000m at Dzongri and we did a couple of nice hikes to the viewpoint and Lakshmi lake that were enjoyable. The downside was that we missed the view of much anticipated view of Kanchenjunga due to the cloud cover.
Read on GoogleThe Bhutan Druk Trek was a once in a lifetime chance to experience an amazing vibrant Buddhist culture and walk through bio-diverse subtropical and stunning alpine landscapes. Our guide, Norbu was very knowledgeable and helpful and made sure everyone was safe and comfortable. The chef cooked up a storm every night and we all reckon he should be a 3 star Michelin chef. The service from the crew was great from the hot water bottles at night to brushing the snow off our tents. We hiked at the beginning spring just as the beautiful blossoms were coming out and experienced fresh snowfalls every evening after we got into camp making for a beautiful winter wonderland when we looked out from out tents in the morning. We had some amazing experiences, including visits to a number of temples where the monks were actively practicing dancing, eating their lunch and reciting the sutras. Certainly a memorable trip worth every penny.
Read on GoogleWild Ladakh run by Garry Weare and Narwang Tsering is full of excitement especially when you see two snow leopards mating. Garry and Narwang carefully chose the dates for the trip to coincide with the best possibility of seeing snow leopards mating. Apart from this the accommodation was excellent and the meals prepared by the lodges very good. Garry is full of information about Ladakh and has visited Ladakh since it was open to tourists in the 1970’s. I doubt you could find a better expert to travel with. All up the trip was well put together and we were well looked after in excellent comfortable accommodation. On top of this we also saw much of the Indus Valley in Ladakh.
Read on GoogleVery positive and confidence boosting trek . The head guide , Happiness ,was very thorough on how to achieve success with layering and keeping warm etc . She also planned sufficient porters to walk with us side by side where necessary . She knew exactly how we were feeling and how to overcome any negative feelings . She cared for everyone from her crew to us as trekkers I think her assistant guide was more preferential to a trekker so sometimes I felt there was less rapport with him It was fantastic that they celebrated my birthday there as well !!!
Read on GoogleWe recently completed the Everest Circuit trek with World Expeditions, travelling as a family of six — and it was truly the experience of a lifetime. Choosing to do a trek of this scale with teenagers and young adults meant we were especially focused on safety, support, and strong logistics. We chose World Expeditions because of their excellent reputation for health and safety, and we are so glad we did. Not only did all six of us complete the full circuit (a goal we weren’t sure we’d achieve!), we did it feeling supported, well cared for, and genuinely uplifted by the experience. Our trek leader, Juddha, was exceptional — calm, experienced, knowledgeable, and kind. He guided us with quiet confidence, always making sure we were safe, informed, and encouraged at every stage. The porters and kitchen crew were equally impressive — warm, capable, and somehow full of energy even when we were exhausted. The food was amazing, the logistics seamless, and the team spirit unbeatable. From Gokyo Ri to Cho La Pass, Base Camp, Kala Pattar, and back through the villages, the landscapes were jaw-dropping — but what really made the trip was the people and the care behind it all. This wasn’t just a holiday — it was a life-changing experience. One we’ll talk about as a family for decades to come. We can’t recommend World Expeditions highly enough — especially if you’re looking for a trusted company to guide you through one of the most breathtaking adventures on Earth.
