A luxury hotel with hospitality that knows no bounds. Everything was impeccable, even before you get out of your car. The room service is thoughtful and perfect. The rooms themselves are amazing, spacious, and have every amenity. They are constantly being replenished throughout the day and you are really spoiled with the level of service. I can't say enough wonderful things about The Retreat and the staff. I highly recommend a visit.

We stayed at the Retreat at Blue Lagoon for a long weekend in May 2026. We had previously enjoyed a day trip at the Retreat Spa during a trip to Iceland three years prior, which we also highly recommend for a more exclusive experience of this special spa. The Retreat stay was exceptional. Having landed on an overnight flight around 6am, we expected to have no access to our room until late in the day. We wasted some time in the morning and got to the lagoon around 8:30am. We immediately met our host for the stay, Siggi. He invited us to enjoy breakfast (spread of fresh ingredients and a menu you can order from) while we waited for our room. Our room was ready at 9am! This was an unexpected perk that happened to work out which we were very grateful for. As retreat guests, you enjoy all the time you want in the spa from opening at 8am. There are no cell phones allowed in the retreat lagoon side of pools, but a staff member is available to take your photos. There’s also a swim up bar window for fresh juices and drinks. We enjoyed going into the larger lagoon first thing in the morning before the crowds. The retreat area of the spa is open later to resort guests allowing you to enjoy the water in the evening. Even though the hotel was near capacity, many of the sauna, steam, and rest rooms were empty making it feel like an exclusive experience. We especially enjoyed the seating area where breakfast and afternoon champagne/snack hour is hosted. We had two great dinners (at Lava and Moss) while at the resort (within the same building so no need to go outside). Lava is a bit more casual. The set menu at Moss was incredible. The staff was also excellent, we did the wine pairing and enjoyed talking with their expert wine staff member (didn’t catch her name). The staff we interacted with were very kind and attentive, many have worked at the lagoon for several years. Thank you for making this a memorable trip!

Incredible stay at The Retreat Exceptional service and attention to detail from the moment we arrived. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff throughout the hotel, spa, and restaurants. Stayed in the Junior Lava Suite – perfect room, incredibly clean, modern, high-end, and comfortable. The spa was incredible, everything you could want, and not overcrowded. The food was superb. We stayed for two nights on arriving in Iceland and immediately forgot about any work or stress we brought with us, which set us up perfectly to go and explore the rest of Iceland afterwards. Special mention to Aurora, who made all our queries and questions very easy and helped us settle in immediately. Extra special mention and thanks to Gudjón at the Moss Restaurant, who made our last night very special and memorable, even going as far as to handwrite all the best destinations to go to afterwards. I will be staying here again and highly recommend it to anyone.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An absolutely amazing experience. Yes — the Retreat Spa at Blue Lagoon comes with a big price tag, but what you get in return is truly worth it. From the moment you arrive via the Retreat Hotel entrance (separate from the main Blue Lagoon), the experience feels calm and exclusive. You receive a private changing suite with a double shower, bathing slippers, and two super comfortable bathrobes that remain yours for the entire stay — a huge comfort upgrade. The Retreat lagoon area itself is very spacious and never felt crowded. Staff are present throughout the facility and genuinely friendly and attentive. The included ritual experience is a real highlight: the ritual room offers multiple masks and algae treatments as part of the package. There is also a steam room, sauna, and several beautifully designed relaxation rooms where you can unwind or even take a nap. Fresh water and dried fruits are always available in the relaxation areas. Amenities are excellent throughout — including hand lotion, body lotion, and even body oil in the ritual area, which is especially welcome after spending time in the cold Icelandic air and mineral water. You can also enjoy lunch or an early dinner at the on-site restaurant, which rounds out the experience nicely. Overall: premium price, but absolutely premium experience. We would definitely return and happily recommend it to friends visiting Iceland.

Staying at The Blue Lagoon Retreat Hotel was the perfect way to start our trip to Iceland. We stayed for one night right after landing, and while the price is definitely on the higher side, it was hands down the most relaxing experience of our entire trip. The hotel has such a peaceful, zen, and retreat-like atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, it truly feels like a reset. The views from our room were absolutely breathtaking, and having access to the private lagoon made the experience even more special. The spa amenities that are included were wonderful and added so much value to our stay. The amenities overall are top-notch. One of the highlights was going up to the rooftop and being lucky enough to catch the Northern Lights – an unforgettable moment. The service was excellent, and the food was just as impressive. If the price were lower, I would have stayed multiple nights without hesitation. Even with the premium cost, the experience, relaxation, and level of service made it completely worth it. I will absolutely be back.
