  I recently attended an Ayurvedic wellness retreat at Samasati. As a holistic healing practitioner and retreat leader myself, I have experienced a lot of retreat locations and this one made a real impression. From the moment I arrived on the property I felt the healing energy of the forest. It’s truly majestic! I love that it is close enough to easily travel to town and the beaches of Puerto Viejo yet tucked away on a mountainside far from the noise and energy of town. Every aspect of the retreat was meticulously tended to. Everything from the meals, care of the bungalows, the grounds, and especially the wellbeing of guests. Being at Samasati felt like being welcomed home. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to experience healing. I look forward to returning both as a retreat attendee and as a leader.

  The most perfect place, from the beautiful views to the caring staff and convenient location. I went as a solo traveler and unfortunately fell very ill starting my first day there but the staff was absolutely amazing in improving this unfortunate situation. Stephanie provided thoughtful and enlightening yoga sessions, and all staff went above and beyond to help me get well. Samasati has absolutely beautiful grounds and many amenities. The cabins are spacious and open. It is more like a glamping experience, however that just makes the experience of staying in the rainforest more authentic. The food is well made and nutritious. It is located in a secluded area of the forest, yet so close to many vibrant towns, beaches, and other things. The perfect place to stay in Costa Rica, hands down. My time here will always be memorable and special, even though I could not physically participate as I intended to.

  Had a great week long stay at Samasati Healing Retreat. As a solo traveler, it was the perfect mix of having alone time to reflect as well as interact with the staff and owners when needed! My room was amazing and I could see the sunrise over the ocean each morning while listening to the toucans and howler monkeys in the jungle that surrounded me. The owner, manager, and staff were so great to me while I was there and made me feel comfortable and helped me in any way possible! The drive up the private road was a little wild (the host says 4 wheel drive cars are needed) but I just rented an ATV for the week and it made it that much more of an adventure! I will 100% be returning to Samasati when I return to Costa Rica.

  My second time here and it was even more memorable than the first. Everyone that works here is amazing and I can’t say enough about the location. We spent about 9 days at Samasati and we never ate out ( the food was so good on site) and every time we went out I was looking forward to coming back up the mountain. Highlights included walking around the ground and the trails, the food - including the fresh juices and dessert, the yoga sessions led by Stephanie, and the animals you see everyday (we saw a new one every single day). I already am missing Samasati and can’t wait to go back!!

  I had the luxury of attending a wedding at Samasati and the experience was beyond what I could of imagined. Let's start with the food, Funky the cook was amazing! everything was organic and fresh. The staff was very warm and ready to serve. My cabin was so beautiful with my own hammock to sit a enjoy the sounds of the jungle. Stephanie took us hiking and showed us all of the wonders that nature has to offer. I mean really the bullet ants were no joke. We saw rare animals and it was wonderful. Usually I am terrified of bugs being a city girl but after getting educated I learned to blend with and appreciate the nature around me. Everything about Samasati was far beyond what I would want in a Jungle retreat. Looking forward to the anniversary to return.
