What travellers say on Google
These are reviews published on Google, not on Retreat Ledger. We show them because a listing with no first-hand accounts yet still deserves some evidence, but they are not moderated by us and they never affect the Retreat Ledger Score. Google returns at most five, chosen by them, so treat this as a sample rather than the full picture.
We've been to Doe Bay a few times over the years and it's definitely one of our happy places! From the whimsical trails and scenic views at the bluff to the (slightly) bougie market and lovely hot tub, and just the overall kindness and sense of community there - it's such a sweet, unassuming paradise. We recently got the chance to introduce many of our loved ones to its low-key, down-to-earth charm, and everyone agreed. Many thanks to Shandra and Bev for your help coordinating our family event - you two were super easy to work with, even while I'm sure you were incredibly busy! And many thanks to Doe Bay for continuing to bring the magic. We'll be back soon!
Read on GoogleThis place is just OK. The quality of the accommodation just does not justify the price, and so I don't think I would be back unless it was to camp or use the spa. Yes, it's beautiful, but so is the whole island.
Read on GoogleWe had a wonderful long weekend at Doe Bay. It was very peaceful and relaxing. We stayed in the aptly named Eden Cabin surrounded by the organic garden. A fruit tree was already flowering in late February right outside the kitchen window. The cabin was well equipped with a full kitchen and all the necessary pots, pans, dinnerware, and utensils. Our dog was welcome as well. As the restaurant asked not to bring our friend along we fed ourselves, but it seemed that takeout might also be available. The bed was comfy and we enjoyed the absence of a TV. There is a library on site as well, we were prepared with our own books and games. There is WiFi on site. The people at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. There was alway hot coffee during store hours. We both enjoyed massages that we booked in advance (highly recommended), and we soaked in the clothing optional hottubs and sweated in the sauna. This is a wonderful place to recharge, we will be back for sure.
Read on GoogleIt's so beautiful here. The hot tubs and sauna are incredible - with the view, it's a special and unique experience. I visited on a Wednesday in January, booked a yurt with electric and a modest heating unit. I would recommend to bring a power strip if you want to charge your devices as there are only two outlets and they are used by the table lamp and the heater. I really like the windows and door in the yurt. The sky light is really nice, too. I will definitely come back on a weekend to experience the cafe. I love the art and overall vibe of this place; it feels very loved.
Read on GoogleHad a beautiful fall weekend retreat at Doe Bay! Stunning location, huge variety of lodging, and friendly staff all around. Loved the hot tubs and sauna, and the communal fire pits and outdoor lounge areas. The cafe offerings were delicious, love that it’s walkable from your lodging. They had a wild mushroom walk while I was there, as well as a small but well stocked store. Can’t wait to visit again in other seasons!
