I had an amazing time on the 5D/4N Inca trail with Alpaca Expeditions! First of all, our guides Raúl and Daniel were fantastic. Raúl is clearly deeply passionate about what he does, and his love for his culture and community shone through constantly. He is so knowledgeable about Incan history and Andean customs, and such an engaging leader. I really enjoyed learning from him and I always felt safe on the trail in his expert hands. He also handled all the logistics and scheduling like the pro he is. Daniel was equally kind and friendly, and he had a very calm and steady presence throughout the trek. The porters are also incredible. They are some of the strongest, fastest, most efficient people I have ever met. Our team led by Romulo carried our belongings with ease and set up camp each day long before we arrived. Lunch was always ready and waiting when we arrived to our afternoon campsite, and in the evenings we enjoyed happy hour with popcorn and warm drinks, followed by a delicious dinner. All of the meals were amazing!! Chef Benedicto outdid himself each day, with multiple new dishes at every meal, and special consideration for those with dietary restrictions. All in all I had a wonderful experience, and if I ever return to Peru I would definitely choose Alpaca again for another trek or tour!
Read on GoogleThe 4 day Inca trek with Alpaca Expeditions was incredible. We were with a group of 14 but it didn’t feel like a huge group. Our guides Abel and Yanira made the entire trip so much fun. They were extremely knowledgeable and proud of their heritage. They gave us memories we will cherish for the rest of our lifetime. The porters and chefs were also amazing. They had a great attitude and worked very hard to make our experience legendary. The food and snacks were very tasty! I would absolutely recommend this company when looking for a trek to Machu Picchu. The journey was the destination.
Read on GoogleI am so glad we found the Alpaca expedition group! We have had an amazing experience so far. Everyone has been especially helpful and kept us informed every step of the way. We did the 2d/1n Inca trail with our wonderful guides Victor and Jhojan. They were kind, patient, and very knowledgeable about the history and local spots. The trail before lunch was challenging but they didn't rush us and encouraged us to go at our own pace with Jhojan leading the pack and Victor sticking with us in the back. I was never concerned we would get lost. We also never had to worry about getting photos Victor always made sure to point out the good spots and gave us time to stop, while Jhojan was a fantastic photographer and made sure we all were able to get as many photos as we wanted. All of our meals were very delicious and our guides were able to recommend many local spots for other snacks. I would definitely recommend them and the company to anyone looking for an Inca trail hike. Good for families, solo travelers, and all ages!
Read on GoogleOur guide Juan Miranda was amazing. We had 4d/3n private tour with train. The first day was Cusco and nearby archeological sites, the second day was agricultural terraces at Pisaq, alpaca farm, and Chinchero textiles and ruins. We stayed in Ollantaytambo - a beautiful little town. Next day we visited the Ollantaytambo ruins, which were very very impressive and saw the salt mines. Final day was Machu Picchu very early in the morning. Watching the sunrise on the city was unforgettable. Juan was very knowledgeable and experienced and paced us exactly how we wanted it. Our drivers and the cars were great too. The three star hotels they default were clean and good (you can upgrade to 4 star hotels with extra cost but these were clean and good enough for us). I am cutting one star from my review because Alpaca Expeditions, while planned everything greatly, was weak on communication. For instance, they never asked which circuit at Machu Picchu we wanted or what time entrance we wanted. Everything turned out to be ok but unless I pushed for more information, they were not asking or providing info until the trip
Read on GoogleWe did the 2 day Inca Trail hike with Elix as our guide. It was an amazing experience and Elix was the best guide we could have had. The communication on where to be, when to be there along with our luggage shuttle was well done. The hike into Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate was a once in a lifetime experience. We had our two boys ages 12 and 14 with us and they loved every minute. Elix was extremely knowledgeable and had answers for all of our questions on Incan history and Machu Picchu. After the hike we stayed at the Sumaq Hotel which was right on the river with great food and very comfortable beds. We would definitely recommend Alpaca Expeditions to anyone headed to Peru.
